We are currently recruiting for a groom or a working student. Please feel free to apply for one or both positions, you will be considered for both accordingly.



Grooming Position


S.C.E is the home of eventers Samantha Cesnik and Chris Height, located in Coldstream in the Yarra Valley both riders work from Spring Creek Farm training and teaching, horses and riders of all abilities. Spanning 35 acres, our newly built facility incorporates an indoor riding arena, extensive private paddocks, 10 stables and associated infrastructure, housing 20+ horses at any one time. We pride ourselves on providing a high level of personalized service and care to our clients across the three key areas of our business- agistment, horse training and coaching. 

Our business is growing rapidly and we are excited to be seeking a groom to join our small but hard working team. This important role will provide continuity of care for horses on a day to day basis supporting Chris, Sam, our Clients and our Property.

Key Duties Include

Daily barn chores – feeding, mucking out, tack cleaning, weeping etc...
Tacking up and untacking of horses
Horse health management and provision of daily medication
Support of riders when cross country schooling or attending lessons or clinics.
Preparation of competition of horses, including plaiting up.
Staff and client management when appropriate

We are looking for someone with the below attributes:

An excellent attitude toward learning
A passion for the equine industry and horses
A strong work ethic, with a focus on getting the job done effectively and efficiently
Some competitive riding experience- pony club or similar is fine
A team player with a sense of humor
A strong practical approach to problem solving
A driver’s license, ideally manual
Completion of year 10 schooling
Equine qualifications and previous experience will be well regarded

Conditions of work:

This is a paid position including work cover, superannuation and statutory leave requirements, this position is not live in. You will be required to work Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings. For the right person, there may be opportunity to earn extra money on weekends as a competition groom.

Conditions of work

This is a paid position including work cover, superannuation and statutory leave requirements, in addition agistment, feed and shoing will be included for one horse, other costs to be covered by you, this position is not live in. You will be required to work Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings, our working student will be welcome to come to competitions with the team and their own horse and training support for your riding and competing will be provided in these instances. For the right person, there may be opportunity to earn extra money on weekends as a competition groom.

You will receive weekly dressage and jumping lessons and will be exposed to all facets of our business including business management, horse care, welfare, client management and staffing. You will be supported to learn the skills and knowledge you need to become an independent professional rider in your own right.
